"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest."
On behalf of our parish community, I extend a warm welcome to you as a new member of Saint Catherine of Siena Catholic Church. Our parish patroness so often spoke of her great love for the Church, the community formed through the life of faith and how that unity is nourished by Our Lord in the spiritual life. In that light, in addition to joining us for public prayer at weekend Mass, plan to stop by on a regular basis and make a visit to Our Lord in our Perpetual Adoration Chapel for some private time in prayer. Open every day and night, our Chapel is a beautiful, quiet and sacred place to encounter Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and to be renewed in following Our Lord as His disciple.
Our stewardship of the gift of faith always invites us to be instruments of Our Lord through ministry. Thus, I encourage you to actively discern how you may utilize the many talents Our Lord has given you and how to place them at the service of your fellow parishioners and the mission of the Church, especially to those most in need. Our parish bulletin has a listing of all the contact persons for each of the ministries of our community. Kindly contact them for more information on how you can be an instrument of Our Lord in and through these apostolates.
I look forward to meeting you in person, whether after Mass or at an upcoming gathering for all those who are also new to our parish community. On behalf of all our parish staff, our parish leadership and our community, again a warm welcome to you. Please be assured of a remembrance among my intentions and may our Blessed Mother, with our patroness Saint Catherine of Siena, watch over you and guide you, now and always.
Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Bill John Acosta Escobar
Pastor
Please fill out our Parish Registration Form (below) give it to an usher at Mass, drop it in the Sunday collection or bring it to the office. Once you complete your parish registration form, things begin to happen. You'll receive a letter of welcome and an invitation to the quarterly welcome dinner. The welcome dinner is a fun evening where you will meet the Priests and other parishioners, get informed about ministries and get connected with life in the parish.
If you are interested in getting more involved in our parish community check out the Apostolates tab on the homepage or on the Prayer & Worship tab.
Learn more and connect to the life of the Parish. Our Mass Times page provides information on all of the daily and weekend masses as well of times for confession. Of course the weekly bulletin is still a great source of timely information for upcoming events, meetings, Mass intentions, readings for the week and more.
St. Catherine's priests and staff are deeply invested in the protection of minors. We follow the Safe Child policies set forth by the Diocese of Raleigh. Each volunteer and staff member who regularly work with kids, as well as all the priests, receive both a background check and take the Safe Child training. Every classroom has two adults--always with at least one having been background checked and Safe Child certified, though we always aim for both. Sometimes, when one of our volunteers is unable to come, a parent may substitute, not all of which are background checked or Safe Child certified. Staff members patrol the campus during class times to ensure all policies are being enforced. Children are encouraged regularly to tell someone if they ever feel unsafe. Parents are encouraged to volunteer, sit in on classes, and chaperone events: nothing we ever do is secret! Should you have any concerns, please contact Sue Gammon, Sherry Maloney, Ed Snyder, or one of the parish priests. Alternatively, John Pendergrass is the Director for Child and Youth Protection in the Diocese--found here.
